چکیده
Abstract Purpose Elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures exhibit post-traumatic hidden blood loss (HBL). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of reducing HBL via early intravenous (IV) tranexamic acid (TXA) intervention in elderly fracture. Methods A prospective randomized controlled was conducted 125 (age ≥ 65 years, injury time ≤ 6 h) who presented fracture from September 2018 2019. Patients TXA group ( n = 63) received 1 g IV at admission, whereas those normal saline (NS) 62) an equal volume saline. Hemoglobin (Hgb) hematocrit (Hct) were recorded admission (PTA) on days (PTDs) 1–3. calculated using Gross formula. Lower extremity venous ultrasound performed detect thrombosis. Results Hgb PTDs 2 3 statistically higher than NS group. Hct 1–3 significantly less compared Preoperative transfusion rate lower There no difference between two groups regard rates complications. Conclusion Early could reduce pre-operative without increasing risk

Tranexamic acid reduces hidden blood loss in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures with PFNA: a single-center randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Hidden blood loss is a major concern for patients undergoing hip surgery for intertrochanteric fracture. The objective of this study was to investigate whether tranexamic acid (TXA) could reduce postoperative hidden blood loss in patients undergoing hip surgery for intertrochanteric fracture. METHODS A total of 77 patients with intertrochanteric fracture were enrolled in this rando...

BACKGROUND Hip fracture surgery may be associated with substantial blood loss. This study was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of the use of tranexamic acid in hip fracture surgery for the reduction of erythrocyte transfusion. METHODS The study pertains to a randomized double-blind study with blinded adjudication of outcomes. Patients requiring surgery for an isolated hip fracture o...
متن کاملTranexamic Acid Reduces Blood Loss and Transfusion in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Arthroplasty without Tourniquet: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial
INTRODUCTION Blood loss during and after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) can lead to substantial morbidity and the need for blood transfusions. There are several methods to minimize blood loss and to decrease transfusion rates in patients undergoing TKA. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent with known efficacy for achieving these goals. Currently, many surgeons are performing TKA without ...
متن کاملTranexamic acid in hip fracture patients: a protocol for a randomised, placebo controlled trial on the efficacy of tranexamic acid in reducing blood loss in hip fracture patients
INTRODUCTION There is a high incidence of blood transfusion following hip fractures in elderly patients. Tranexamic acid (TXA) has proven efficacy in decreasing blood loss in general trauma patients as well as patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery. A randomised controlled trial will measure the effect of TXA in a population of patients undergoing hip fracture surgery. METHODS This ...
متن کاملAdditional Dose of Intravenous Tranexamic Acid after Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty Further Reduces Hidden Blood Loss
Background Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is the most frequently performed procedure in treating advanced knee osteoarthritis. Excessive perioperative blood loss can sometimes lead to postoperative anemia. Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a potent fibrinolysis inhibitor which has been extensively used at the surgical incision and closure to lower overall blood loss in adult reconstruction surgery. Our p...
